Beach to Bush and Bush to Beach: the Mara from the Kenya coast
Happy Kenya coast tourists, pictured here boarding the daily Mombasa Air Safari flight back to their tropical beach after a fabulous night at Tembo Spirit Boutique Camp. Beach to bush and bush to beach: the two go together better than most visitors expect.
How it works
There are daily departures from Mombasa and Diani, and from Malindi with a minimum of four passengers, leaving at 08:00. The flight lands at the Mara airstrips: Olkiombo is a 20-minute drive from Tembo Bush Camp, and Mara North Airstrip is 15 minutes from Tembo Spirit Boutique Camp. Return flights depart the Mara at 11:00, so you are back on the beach for the afternoon. The flights include government taxes.
What the packages include
Our two and three-day air safari packages include the return flights to the Mara and transfers to your chosen camp, full board, two game viewing safaris a day, laundry and a sundowner drink by the bush fire. Park, community and conservancy fees, hotel to airport transfers, extra drinks and tips are not included, and walking safaris and night game drives are available as extras. Rates and details are on the air safari packages page.
Two camps to choose from
Tembo Bush Camp sits at the heart of the Maasai Mara National Reserve, amid dense wildlife, with game viewing from sunrise to sunset: perfect for first-time visitors. Tembo Spirit Boutique Camp is in the private Lemek Conservancy, where lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant and hippo are often seen, and where night game drives and walking safaris add experiences the reserve does not allow.
