Three generations around the campfire: an accessible safari at Tembo Bush Camp

A family of three generations around the evening campfire on the plains at Tembo Bush Camp, a safari vehicle behind them

An entire family of three generations, some of them visiting from the UK, gathered around the evening campfire at Tembo Bush Camp, enjoying the special togetherness of a fire on the plains as the light fades over the Maasai Mara.

Not seen in the picture is the reason this safari meant so much. One of the children travels with a wheelchair, and the camp's accessible tent made it possible for the whole family to share these magic moments together.

An accessible tent in the heart of the Mara

One of the tents at Tembo Bush Camp has been designed for guests with reduced mobility and for wheelchair users. Like every tent in camp it has a large private bathroom with hot and cold running water, a viewing terrace, electricity around the clock from our solar panels, Wi-Fi, and a hand-held radio to reach the staff at any time.

Two more tents are family suites sleeping three to four people, so a larger family can stay close together.

A safari planned around the family

We plan each safari around our guests, adjusting the pace, the routes and the daily programme to match them. Tell us what your family needs when you book, and we will prepare the tent and plan the days accordingly: write to [email protected] or book your stay.
