If you’ve ever dreamed of going on safari in Kenya, you’re probably picturing golden plains stretching into the horizon, elephants moving in the distance, and lions resting under acacia trees. That dream becomes real the moment you arrive at Tembo by Jackson.
This isn’t just any safari camp. It’s a deeply personal place, created by legendary Maasai guide Jackson Naurori and his team. It’s tucked right inside the Maasai Mara National Reserve. That means you’re not staying near the action, you’re living in it. And when it’s your first time on safari, that makes all the difference.
From your first game drive to your last night around the fire, Tembo by Jackson makes you feel at home in the wild. There’s something calming about hearing lions in the distance while tucked under a warm duvet, or sharing stories with fellow travelers while the sky puts on a show of stars above you.
And just an hour away, in Lemek Conservancy, is Spirit of Tembo, a more private and luxurious version of the same story. Four beautifully designed tented rooms, private guides, and a peaceful atmosphere make it perfect for guests who want something a little more exclusive. It’s quiet, personal, and still connected to the land in every way.
So what can you expect on your first safari here?
You’ll go on game drives with passionate guides who know every corner of this lan d. You’ll probably see lions within your first hour, and if you’re lucky, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, and all the incredible animals that call the Mara home. You’ll eat freshly cooked meals that somehow taste even better under the open sky. You’ll laugh. You’ll rest. You’ll feel more alive than you’ve felt in a long time.
Tembo by Jackson is not just about wildlife, it’s about connection. To the land. To the culture. And to yourself. The Spirit of Tembo stays with you long after you’ve left, and it’s something no brochure can fully explain. You have to feel it for yourself.
For your first safari, choose a place that truly understands what this moment means. A place that welcomes you like family, and shows you the wild with pride and love. Choose Tembo by Jackson.

Tembo by Jackson – A Soul-Stirring Safari Experience Like No Other, We truly appreciated and immensely enjoyed our time with everyone in camp.
We are a family of four — two adults and our 17- and 13 year old boys, we came to Kenya for a ten-day holiday that turned out to be nothing short of extraordinary, all thanks to Tembo by Jackson.
From the moment we landed in Nairobi, everything was seamlessly taken care of. A heartfelt thank you to Naini and Patrick, whose thoughtfulness, care, and meticulous planning made our entire trip effortlessly enjoyable. Every single detail — from logistics to little personal touches was perfectly arranged, allowing us to simply relax and take it all in.
We were warmly welcomed at the airport by Martin, who drove us to the bush camp in the Maasai Mara. He was not only professional and courteous but also incredibly knowledgeable, generously sharing fascinating stories and information throughout the journey — turning what could have been just a transfer into a memorable introduction to Kenya.
From that moment on, our safari adventure began. The experience at Tembo and the partner camps was beyond anything we could have imagined, very immersive, magical, and filled with moments we will cherish forever. The warmth and hospitality we received from the entire team at both camps made us feel truly at home.
When we arrived at Mara bush camp there was a spirit here , something deeply respectful, rooted in the land, the team and their stories. Tembo is not only a retreat into nature but also a return to something deeply human.
The location is utterly extraordinary. Nestled in the heart of the Mara national reserve , The bush camp offers a luxurious stay whilst feeling truly immersed in nature. The views are endless and ever-changing, golden savannahs at dawn, dramatic skies at dusk, and Hippos saying hello in the distance, The camp design blends so seamlessly into the landscape that you feel part of it rather than a visitor looking in.
Our tent was pure luxury — every detail carefully chosen to offer comfort without ever taking away from the natural surroundings. You wake up to the sound of birds and in the evening a slight rustle of the wind through the acacia trees, and of course the sound of nature all around- incredible !
Our stay in The Spirit of Tembo was pure understated luxury more than We could have imagined
But what makes Tembo truly unforgettable is the people. Jackson and his team offer a kind of hospitality that doesn’t feel rehearsed or transactional — it feels like being welcomed into a family. There’s genuine warmth here, and the knowledge shared by the guides Moses & James is not just informative, it’s passionate. Every game drive felt personal, like we were exploring with friends who love this land deeply and want us to love it too, which we did indeed. We really felt part of the family, lots of thoughtful surprises through our stay, not listing them as I do not wish to spoil it for others! Made us smile everyday……
Meals were another highlight — fresh, locally sourced & inspired and served in magical settings, we had dinner under the stars & beside the fire after a long day on safari.
Animals – well what can I say, thanks to our totally experienced guides, we have seen everything and more…. than we had ever dreamed off and not from a distance but up close!
Looking about I could see the difference in the safari guides/experiences, everyone on safari, but what you get from the safari can be worlds apart- so when spending your money on a fairly expensive holiday, you want to get it right, I can say with confidence, you will get this and more from Tembo by Jackson.
We left Tembo with full hearts, lasting memories, and a deep desire to return. This is not just a place to see the Maasai Mara. This is a place to feel it.
With all our hearts, we thank the entire Tembo by Jackson family. Naini,Patrick,Moses, James, Nana, Dominic, Marco, Dan, Ben, Ben, Joshua, Benson, Dickson, Alex, Jonathan, John, Dianna. ( I hope I have remembered all your names)
You gave us not just a holiday, but a beautiful and meaningful experience we will carry with us always.
Martin, Eve, Michael & Stefan, you know our Massai names….. lol
